Savannah, GA Short Film "Alice" Explores Grief and Resilience in the Wake of Tragedy

Savannah, GA – The upcoming short film Alice, shot in the historic city of Savannah, Georgia, in November 2023, is a poignant exploration of grief and resilience. Directed by Tribeca Film Festival nominee Matthew Campanella, the film focuses on a single day in the life of Alice, a woman coping with profound loss as she tackles the mundane task of doing her taxes.

Kennedy Martin stars as Alice, whose seemingly routine act of preparing her taxes serves as a backdrop for the unfolding of her deep emotional turmoil. Recently divorced from her husband following the devastating loss of their only child, Alice is caught in a quiet struggle between holding onto the past and finding a way to move forward.

The film’s cinematography, helmed by BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Paul Atkins, enhances the narrative with stunning visuals that reflect the film’s emotional depth. Atkins masterfully uses Savannah’s hauntingly beautiful landscapes to mirror Alice’s inner world, creating a visually compelling story that resonates with viewers.

Alice is a film about the small, often overlooked moments that reveal the depth of human emotion,” said director Matthew Campanella. “Kennedy’s performance is both raw and authentic, allowing audiences to truly feel Alice’s pain and resilience.”

Alice is slated to make its debut at film festivals in 2024, where it is expected to make a significant impact. With its compelling story, outstanding performances, and breathtaking visuals, the film is poised to be a standout in the short film category.
